PMA Grassroots Employer Toolkit - Advocacy Checklist


When communicating with government officials, use this checklist to identify key steps you can take to be an effective advocate (as well as the resources you need to get the job done.)

___ Join PMA’s GROW Network

E-mail grow@pma.com

___ Respond quickly and easily to any pending action alerts

Use PMA's Advocacy Action Center to e-mail pre-written messages (that you can/should personalize) to your elected officials

___ Learn about your elected officials

Use the "Legislator Profile Worksheet" to identify key attributes of your elected officials

___ Learn about the issues PMA is working on

Go to the Issues section of PMA's Web site

___ Prepare an information sheet that tells your personal story

Use the "Make the Ask" and "Personal Story" Worksheets

___ Write, call or set up meetings with elected officials about produce marketing issues

You can work with PMA to set up meetings in Washington DC. You can also use the following resources:

___ Get involved in electing people that understand produce issues
