Fresh Connections: Retail—Making Connections, Growing Businesses

More than 160 participants came together at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott on April 5 & 6 for two days of networking, meeting prospective partners and discussions about the retail side of the fresh produce industry.

Managers and executives from supermarket and mass market retailers connected with new suppliers for their fresh produce. Growers/shippers/wholesalers attended to find new business opportunities.

Following a sold-out pre-conference tour of Philadelphia’s state-of-the-art Wholesale Produce Market, attendees gathered for an educational program focused on restaurant and consumer trends.
  • Global food and beverage analyst Patty Johnson shared restaurant trends that are inspiring food-savvy consumers to purchase and prepare fresh produce at home.
  • Digital media strategist Alan Alexander discussed through a case study, how brick-and-mortar retailers can tap into e-commerce shopping trends — especially personalized product recommendations — to increase sales.
  • Market research expert Brian Numainville shared case studies on how retailers are collaborating with their customers to expand their reach and grow sales.
  • Throughout the day, attendees heard from a panel of diverse consumers and gained real-world insights into where, how and why shoppers buy.
