The event will provide attendees with critical analysis of these troubled times. Speaker: Mr. Francis Ciabattoni, Senior Vice President of Investments, Morgan Stanley

  • This presentation will give you a financial overview of the U.S. and Global economies, provide an analysis of what lead to the present economic situation, and offer as expectations for the near future and the impact on markets. Mr. Ciabattoni will help attendees understand the potential effects on Chilean suppliers as well as other suppliers to the U.S. market.

Speaker: Mr. Steve Lutz, Executive Vice President, The Perishables Group

  • Mr Lutz will provide attendees with an analysis of the U.S. retail situation as well as a global overview. He will touch on how the economy has impacted this sector, provide an understanding of the potential challenges and suggest recommendations for the Chilean exporters and other trading partners selling to the U.S. market.

Speaker: Mr. Rick Smith, Produce Director, Save Mart Supermarkets

  • This presentation will give attendees an analysis of the crisis from both a retail and consumer viewpoint. Mr. Smith will address the economic changes that have occurred at the consumer level and provide strategies on how the industry can adapt to their new shopping patterns. He will help attendees understand the expectations for the near future and provide recommendations for Chilean exporters and other trading partners selling to the U.S. market.
12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. Chilean Perspective of the Crisis; Effects and Measures

Speaker: Mr. Alejandro Barros, General Manager, Aconex Ltda.

  • This presentation will be focused on the effects that the crisis has imposed and will continue to impose on South American exporters. Mr. Barros will analyze the products and sectors of the industry that are affected the most, and at the same time visualize the opportunities within the current challenges.
12:30 p.m. - 12:50 p.m. Conference Wrap-up: Connecting the Dots and Moving Forward

Speaker: Mr. Arturo Costabal Claro, International Consultant and Director of Companies

  • In this section, Mr. Costabal will pull together the information provided by the earlier speakers to give an analysis from the perspective of Chilean exporters and the industry. He will discuss the products that will be most affected, help attendees understand the changes in the U.S. and global markets, and suggest how to manage the expectations for the near future.
