Outlook 2011: To survive and prosper, stay the course on quality.
PMA is happy to present the article, Outlook 2011 written by Tom Lavagetto for The Produce News in January 2011.
As I recap the first 2 months of 2011’s “Outlook”, I see that we are right on track. We, as an industry, have started the year with good sales AND profits. Valentine’s Day week was all in all very good. Maybe next year we can say “excellent”. But we will take this holiday as it was served. The rest of the “spring floral season” is shaping up to be very good also---maybe even strong in some areas. BE PREPARED. Pent up demand for flowers, foliage, and gardening products is evident. Good $elling,
Tom Lavagetto

PMA knows that the major holidays are critical to the success of any floral department. Therefore, we created the Floral Market Watch reports to give you a "snap-shot" of floral performance during key holidays. These reports feature credible, actionable data that can help you maximize your floral sales throughout the year. New reports are posted five times a year: Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and the December holidays.
In addition, PMA commissioned the Perishables Group to analyze point-of-sale floral data within the traditional grocery channel to help you understand trends and implications of supermarket floral sales. Articles are published prior and post major holidays. The pre-holiday articles assess the previous year’s sales to set expectations for the coming holiday. The post-holiday articles examine how that holiday’s floral sales actually performed.
