Watermelon buyers should expect high prices to continue through Labor Day because heat brought on early East Coast and Midwestern volumes that might not sustain until the end-of-summer holiday. Randy Smith, vice president and salesman for Midwest Marketing Co. Inc., Vincennes, Ind., said watermelon demand exceeds supply.
