Butler Market Gardens (BMG) is pleased to announce its partnership with Murray Valley Organics (MVO), a 100-acre Certified Organic farm situated in Wood Wood, Victoria.
Born out of a 20-year friendship between business owners Rick Butler (BMG) and Adam Farley (MVO), who completed their Cert 3 in Horticulture Production together, the partnership commenced in the Winter and Spring of 2018. During the organic conversion period Spring onions, Herbs and Chinese Broccoli were grown. After obtaining full organic certification the hotter months saw a very successful period where Organic Zucchini were grown and sold to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane markets. Now in the cooler months Organic Broccoli and Herbs are proving to be very popular.
The farm is certified to grow up to 20 different products. Adam Farley, who is an experienced organic grower stated, “We are open to growing a number of different products, and know we need to be flexible to the demands and trends of the industry.”
BMG’s Heatherton base which includes some of their farms, and their offices and packing warehouse, was upgraded to include a new Certified Organic packing room. Its sales and marketing team handles administration and interaction with customers. Rick Butler stated “We are very pleased to be working with Adam. The ever-increasing demand of organic produce overseas, and now in Australia, is something which cannot be ignored. We know consumers are placing more and more emphasis on health, provenance and what is in the product they are consuming.” Although Organics is currently a small part of the BMG business, they see it as an expanding arm to their offer moving forward.
