One: Make Connections at the Expo and More
While booth size and securing prime real estate might be enviable, they aren’t the only ways to capture attention and engage potential partners. People – and the stories we tell and how we engage one another -- are the heart and soul of this industry.
About 100 individual floral buyers from 45 supermarket banners are expected to attend. Search the Fresh Summit attendee list now or look at the list of Floral Buyers and Solutions Buyers who have registered. Personalize your convention and expo experience by downloading the Fresh Summit Mobile App. Use the My Expo Plan you created in advance to bookmark exhibitors you want to visit.
During expo hours, take a break or schedule a meeting in the Floral Lounge in front of Hall D. If you need a new professional profile portrait photo taken, stop by the Freshest Face Forward: Professional Photography Lounge in the Arena.
To maximize ways to connect beyond the show floor, plan to attend the Global Street Festival welcoming reception Oct. 17 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on the Grand Plaza. Be transported to Thailand's Festival of Food, Flowers and Light; Brazil's Carnival; and USA's Woodstock just in time for its 50th anniversary.
Find out who will be named the 2019 Floral Marketer of the Year at PMA’s Floral “Beach Bash” Reception on Friday, Oct. 18, from 5:15 p.m.-7 p.m. in Room 204ABC at the Anaheim Convention Center. Carlos Oramas, the 2018 winner and CEO and cofounder of Gems Group, Inc., will present the 2019 award at the Beach Bash. Think fruity cocktails, yummy eats, musical entertainment and a beachy vibe.
There will be plenty of additional networking opportunities at the PMA FreshTival on the Grand Plaza from 10 a.m.-5:30 pm. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19. Recharge and energize with food trucks, booths, a coffee cart, floral hair braiding, music, massage chairs and more.
Two: Extend Your Experience
Two Experience Extensions at Fresh Summit on Thursday, Oct. 17 will focus on floral; details are outlined below.
“Sharpen Your Floral Marketing Vision” 9 a.m. -10:30 a.m., Room 303B, ACC
Gen Z consumers with current purchasing power include teenagers through 23-year-olds. This group thinks, acts and buys products differently than generations before them. At Fresh Summit, we’ll gather a panel of Gen Z college students who will share what motivates them to buy floral products. The audience can ask the panel questions and facilitator Brian Numainville, principal at Retail Feedback Group, will provide insights and help connect the dots so floral growers, breeders, hard goods providers, and retailers can better understand and respond to this demographic.
Experience Extension Spotlight: “Data to Drive Your Floral Business”
12:15 p.m.-1:45 p.m., Oct. 17, Room 303B, ACC
Your mission at Fresh Summit, should you choose to accept it, is to join your floral colleagues and Brian Numainville, principal at Retail Feedback Group, to get real about floral data and help identify ways we can improve categorizing, collection and analysis of data for use in sound decision-making. Numainville will facilitate PMA’s “Data to Drive Your Floral Business” Experience Extension in Room 303B Oct. 17 from 12:15 p.m.-1:45 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center. Representatives from IRI and Nielsen, both experts in collecting and analyzing consumer purchasing data to inform business planning, will participate in the conversation.

P.S. Coming Soon
PMA works year-round looking at megatrends, consumer trends, floral purchasing drivers and barriers, and more. We’re excited for you to hear directly from our panel of Gen Z college students at Fresh Summit. Also in October, PMA will share GC Metrics’ research report on Floral Demand Space Exploration with members. And we’re looking forward to sharing results soon on the consumer eye-tracker study conducted by researchers at Texas A&M University that’s designed to understand consumer preferences in floral design.
