2015 Fresh Connections: Netherlands — Dynamic Dialogue
Recognizing that Europe represents tremendous opportunity for fresh produce suppliers and retailers, these industry leaders attended to understand how trade issues, consumer trends and safety regulations will impact their businesses. Attendees experienced:
Fresh Connections: Netherlands is designed to be an intimate gathering to facilitate great networking opportunities. Attendees and sponsors developed new business relationships, discovered new products and business solutions, and discussed significant issues affecting our industry.
For the first time, Fresh Connections: Netherlands participants used the Poll Everywhere mobile app to participate personally in the educational program. Speakers quizzed attendees on their knowledge of key issues, solicited audience feedback and invited questions and responses from the group. The result? A highly engaged dialogue between speakers and attendees.
Conversation On Key Issues
Peter Verbaas, VP of Fresh Produce Centre, a Netherlands-based produce trade association, and Dr. Leon Mol, product integrity manager at Ahold Europe, led a conversation focused on the key issues of product safety and consumer trust. Participants discussed solutions the fresh produce industry can take to deliver the highest-quality products and enhance communications with consumers.

Expert Guidance on Trade Issues
Julien Marcilly, chief economist of Coface, offered an overview of European trade and geopolitical issues — translating news headlines into practical implications for fresh produce businesses in Europe. He was then joined by three other industry leaders in a dynamic panel discussion that helped attendees understand how to meet these business challenges.
