In 2019, PMA A-NZ has observed the growing focus on sustainability within the fresh produce industry, for our members in Australia and New Zealand as well as our global networks. In 2020, we are putting a focus on sustainability and holding a workshop on the 27th of February in Melbourne.
The use of the term sustainability has grown rapidly in recent times, particularly within our industry driven largely by our customers and consumers. When the term itself covers a broad range of activities, meanings and messages, it can be challenging to understand the current sustainability landscape, what it means to your business and what changes you can make within your business to be ahead of the game.
This workshop will give members a chance to share their experiences of sustainability both personally and within their businesses, shedding light on the opportunities within the industry and business case for improved sustainability practices. PMA A-NZ is currently undertaking a review of the sustainability status within the fresh produce industry, in collaboration with a key environmental consultant. This will focus on what businesses are currently doing to address sustainability, including initiatives and messaging and what good practice looks like. The review will be released prior to the workshop and will provide a framework for the discussion.
The workshop will run from 9:30am to 2:00pm with tea and coffee on arrival and lunch provided, giving you an opportunity to network and discuss insights from the forum.
