Please note: Costs associated with participating on a volunteer group will be the responsibility of the volunteer member.

Produce Marketing Association:

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee supports membership growth by actively recruiting and retaining members. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Fresh Summit Committee
The Fresh Summit Committee provides strategic, tactical and promotional guidance/support to the Fresh Summit Convention & Expo that increases global produce and floral supply chain partners, informs them of the latest in consumer, business and industry trends, and provides a forum to develop business solutions. Key requirement for serving: Must have attended and/or exhibited at this event at least once or currently registered to exhibit for the 1st time. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Foodservice Conference Committee
The Foodservice Conference Committee provides strategic, tactical and promotional guidance/support to the Foodservice Conference and its objectives to increase produce sales within the foodservice sector by bringing together foodservice supply chain partners, showcasing the latest products and services, providing opportunities to build new and strengthen existing relationships and offering information about the newest industry and consumer trends. Science & Technology Committee
The Science & Technology Committee serves PMA membership by identifying critical industry issues in science and technology, determining how they impact the produce supply chain domestically and globally, and working with PMA staff to develop strategies to address those issues. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Product Identification Committee
The Product Identification Committee facilitates the development and use of global product identification standards for use within the global produce industry. This includes PLU codes, generic and company specific UPCs, and DataBar and could potentially include all other levels of produce coding hierarchy. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Brazil Country Council
The Brazil Country Council members work to advance the association throughout Brazil. The council actively promotes the programs and benefits of PMA and the Center for Growing Talent by PMA, works for the success of PMA events in Brazil (particularly the PMA Fresh Connections: Brazil event), helps identify local member value needs, and aids in retaining existing members and recruiting new members to the association. Chile Country Council
The PMA Chile Country Council guides the association's activities in Chile to help PMA deliver local and global member value. Council members actively promote the programs and benefits of PMA and the Center for Growing Talent by PMA, work for the success of PMA events in Chile, and aid in retaining existing members and recruiting new members. Key requirement for serving:

Mexico Country Council
The Mexico Country Council members work to advance the association throughout Mexico. The council actively promotes the programs and benefits of PMA and the Center for Growing Talent by PMA, works for the success of PMA events in Mexico (particularly the PMA Fresh Connections: Mexico event), helps identify local member value needs, and aids in retaining existing members and recruiting new members to the association. Key requirement for serving:  Should reside and work in Mexico. For more details, read the full committee description here.

South Africa Country Council
The South Africa Country Council members work to advance the association in South Africa, and in the southern Africa region in general. The council actively promotes the programs and benefits of PMA and the Center for Growing Talent by PMA, works for the success of PMA events in South Africa (in particular the PMA Fresh Connections: Southern Africa Conference & Expo), helps identify local member value, and aids in retaining existing members and recruiting new members. Key requirement for serving: Should reside and work in South Africa. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Global Development Committee
The Global Development Committee (GDC) fosters global business connections and intelligence for current and future PMA members and supports the global growth strategy of PMA. Key requirement for serving: Able to participate in two in-person meetings each year; one of which is held at the PMA Fresh Summit and the other is typically held outside the United States. Floral Council
The Floral Council members provide input and guidance to help deliver year-round global floral member value and work to retain existing members and recruit new members.  For more details, read the full committee description here.

Budget & Finance Committee
The Budget & Finance Committee ensures that the association and the Center for Growing Talent by PMA are in good fiscal health and that the Board of Directors' policies & strategic priorities are reflected in the annual budgets.  For more details, read the full committee description here.

Career Ambassadors
Center for Growing Talent by PMA Career Ambassadors assist the Center for Growing Talent by PMA with building awareness of and sharing information on the career opportunities in the global fresh produce and floral industries.

Executive Leadership Symposium Advisory Committee
Center for Growing Talent by PMA Executive Leadership Advisory Committee provides strategic guidance for the executive leadership portfolio. This includes all components of the portfolio, including the Executive Leadership Symposium — a program developed to enhance strategic leadership skills of produce and floral industry executives by stimulating the innovative thinking and strategic understanding of leadership concepts while providing a forum for relationship building and sharing of best practices. Key requirement for serving: Must have attended this event at least once. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Fundraising Committee
Fundraising Committee provides oversight, guidance and participation in raising funds to support the work of the Center for Growing Talent by PMA. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Joe Nucci Memorial Golf Tournament Advisory Committee
The Joe Nucci Memorial Golf Tournament Advisory Committee provides input and guidance and assists in acquiring sponsorships and registrations to support the Joe Nucci Memorial Golf Tournament. Key requirement for serving: Must have attended at least one of the Joe Nucci Memorial Golf Tournaments. For more details, read the full committee description here.

Women's Fresh Perspectives Advisory Committee
Center for Growing Talent by PMA Women's Fresh Perspectives Advisory Committee provides input and guidance on the development of programs and events created to cultivate women's potential through leadership education, motivational speakers and opportunities to network with other industry leaders and newcomers. The current portfolio includes Women's Fresh Perspectives Breakfast at PMA Fresh Summit, Women's Fresh Perspectives Reception at PMA Foodservice Conference, and Women's Fresh Perspectives Conference. Key requirement for serving: Must have attended at least one of the WFP events. For more details, read the full committee description here.

General Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for limited time and commitment? Listed below are general volunteer opportunities that require less time and involvement - you will be contacted on an "as needed" basis.

  • Events and Educational Programming: Examples include: being a guest speaker, moderator or facilitator at a PMA event; promoting a local event; reviewing and providing feedback on educational programming; providing educational content as an industry expert.
  • Research and Development Input: Examples include: providing feedback on PMA research; providing feedback on relevant industry issues and providing guidance on member services.
  • Center for Growing Talent by PMA: Examples include: being a visiting "professor" at local colleges; helping to raise funds; providing internships for students or serving as an industry mentor.

Volunteering for PMA is educational, I have learned so much from not just our industry but more. It is time well worth spending with all the members in PMA. Awesome team!!!

Selection of Volunteers

Each spring, PMA issues a call for volunteer applicants to fill the available positions on committees and councils. Members interested in volunteering must submit an application.

The volunteer members on our Leadership Committee select volunteers who are geographically and supply chain representative, and who can commit to the work at hand, among other criteria.
