Start With Why

The Business Case for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

DEI Builds Brand

A diverse, inclusive workforce and culture builds a brand that is attractive to consumers and talent alike – and enhances your company’s reputation, market reach, and competitive advantage in connecting with consumers and aspiring talent.

DEI Boosts Creativity and Innovation

Diverse people with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experience approach things from diverse perspectives and points of view. An inclusive culture welcomes those perspectives, encourages them to contribute, and opens the door to new and possibly innovative ideas.

DEI Improves Team Relationships and Dynamics

An inclusive culture creates opportunities for people in your company to know different dimensions of one another, relate to one another, and work together in ways that remove barriers such as, but not limited to, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, ability, or education.

DEI Attracts and Retains Talent

A diverse workforce is attractive to aspiring talent. An inclusive culture encourages and is intentional about personal and professional development that today’s talent expects from employers. A diverse and inclusive culture is a key reason that employees stay on the job.

DEI Reduces Risk

A diverse, equitable and inclusive culture that nurtures better communication and builds trust among people can help employees manage their unconscious biases and modify behaviors that lead to workplace discrimination, harassment, and bullying – and expose your company to litigation.

Module 1: What Do Diversity and Inclusion Mean?
Participants learn the definitions of these and other basic D&I terms and develop an understanding of the interdependence of diversity and inclusion. Participants also learn the scope of the populations affected by inequality, including gender, race, ability, and orientation.

Module 2: Understanding Barriers to Diversity & Inclusion
The most revealing and surprising aspects of understanding and implementing D&I are found in the perceptions people don’t realize are affecting their interactions with others in the workplace. In this module, we explore unconscious bias, helping participants identify and work toward modifying their own preconceptions of and biases toward their coworkers.

Module 3: How Diversity & Inclusion Drive Business Performance
From workplace culture to the effectiveness of teams and the success of projects, participants will study examples of how D&I positively impacts business performance.

Module 4: Supporting a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace
In this final module, participants will learn how D&I are implemented – from hiring initiatives to professional development to team-building and promotion. Real-world examples are explored.
